Temperature has a reverse effect on viscosity of aqueous. The effect of temperature on the viscosity of sodium carboxymethyl cellulose aqueous solution solutions, when the temperature is reduced, the viscosity of the solution would recover to its initial value. However long periods of heating at high tempeartures such as over 90℃ would make the solutions permanently thin flowing.
The Sodium CMC concentration in the solution determines the viscosity value. Doubling the CMC concentration will increase the viscosity in solution by a factor of 10.
