Sodium Carboxymethyl Cellulose is anionic cellulose ether with macromolecular structure. It is odourless, tasteless, and non-toxic with white or faint yellow powder or particles. It can easily dissolve in water, and transfer into the colloidal solution; and it cannot dissolve in ethanol, ether, acetone, and other organic solvent.

1. Application in warp sizing
After starching with CMC and drying, it can form a sheet which is firm, strong with a certain soft and wear resistant, and make itself stick well with the fiber surface. In addition, it gives the chaine sufficient elongation characteristics, increases the strength of the chaine, and reduce the dusting-off rate. CMC which is applied in textile will show the advantages as follows:
* Green products, eco-friendly, and full biodegradation;
* Easy pulping, no heating up and boiling down, and can be dissolved by cold water. Low carbon and energy saving;
* No gel sedimentation, and no crusting, no foaming inside the size vat and pipe;
* Temperature resistance, antibiosis, and stability of size viscosity;
* Easy dividing yarn and no bonding even in the high humidity weave workshop;
* Tough and wear resistance of the size sheet; enhance the weave efficiency, and reduce the yarn breakage to the minimum;
* Without enzyme desizing, and the gray cloth can be scoured or decolorized directly.
2. Application in textile printing
Textile Grade Sodium Carboxymethyl Cellulose CMC, with the ultra-high degree substitution, can be used as the thickener in various textile printing color paste, and it has the excellent anti-acid and anti-salt ( that is, electrolyte endurance). The viscosity is stable after making up the thickener and printing color paste, and it can fully replace the high quality alginate. The advantages of product are listed as follows:
* Good hygroscopicity, increase the consistent color rate, and enhance the vividness;
* Good Penetration. Deep color absorption and easy off the work intensity for textile embossing;

3. Application in fabric finishing
Paint the CMC aqueous solution on fabric, and then after the acetic acid treatment, it can be produced a special fabric with airtight and water proof. Treat the fabric with CMC aqueous solution first and treat with the easy decomposition of quaternary ammonium salt, then after drying, burnishing and heating at the appropriate phrase, and it can form a waxy fabric which is insoluble in coating.
